Getting an adorable, tiny puppy must be one of the most exciting moments in life. It is a big step and you know that having your dog join your family is something that you will always treasure. He will bring more joy and happiness to your house than any expensive toy could. But it is also a big responsibility, and you will need to make a lot of decisions: How do you want to go about the training of your puppy, what should he eat, and where should he sleep. A lot of people enjoy having their dogs sleep in bed with them, while other people consider a dog in the bed a nuisance. It is ultimately a personal decision whether or not you want your dog to sleep in your bed. If you do invite your new puppy into your bed, you need to prepare yourself for a lifetime of a possible bed hog. Your seemingly little dog can curl up into the tiniest ball when he sleeps. It feels so good when you first get into bed to have your adorable little puppy curl up with you. However, as our puppy relaxes during his sleep, he stretches out. And the more relaxed he is, the larger he seems to get. And, low and behold, when you wake up in the morning, he is stretched all the way across the bed. You find this hard to believe? Well, trust me, I know. While this might be a somewhat extreme case, don't be surprised when it happens to you. It is natural for dogs to stretch out as they relax, so don't say I didn't tell you. The more they stretch out, obviously, the more room they take up in your bed. If you are okay with a potential hogger, then having your new puppy sleep in your bed is not a problem. Also consider how sound a sleeper you are. If you are a light sleeper, having your puppy sleep next to you and stretch out during the night might not be the best plan.
